An extended school works with the local authority and other partners to offer access to a range of services and activities which support and motivate children and young people to achieve their full potential.

Since 2010 every school is required to provide daily Extended Services from 8 am - 6pm.  This is to enable parents to work whilst their children are being looked after. This facility is dependent on demand. There will be no provision if the community does not want it, but we work in partnership with local providers.

In a rural community it is not necessary for each school to provide every single aspect of extended service, schools can work in clusters and benefit from sharing resources.
