We recently had a very exciting visit from Joe Dias, who came into school to teach us how to play African djembe drums.
Joe worked with all year groups, giving every pupil the chance to have a go at playing the drums. During the sessions, we learned how to use our hands correctly, follow different rhythms, and play together as a group. The sound of the djembe drums could be heard throughout the school, creating a lively and exciting atmosphere.
The workshops were a fantastic way to learn about African music and culture while building confidence, teamwork, and listening skills. Pupils showed great enthusiasm and really enjoyed taking part.
We would like to say a big thank you to Joe for such an enjoyable experience. It was wonderful to see all year groups joining in and having fun making music together.
