PE and Sports Funding
Since 2013, the government has provided extra funding to help schools improve physical education (PE) and sports for children. This funding, called the PE and School Sport Premium, comes from the Department for Education and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport. It is specifically for PE and sport, so it can only be used to support these areas.
The funding is given to schools based on the number of pupils and is designed to help schools:
-
Improve the quality of PE and sports activities
-
Encourage all children to be active and enjoy exercise
-
Promote healthy lifestyles that last a lifetime
-
Help children reach their personal best in physical activity
Schools can choose how to use the funding to best meet the needs of their pupils. At Armathwaite School, we work closely with our children to decide how the money is spent.
How We Use the Funding
We use the PE and School Sport Premium to:
-
Provide high-quality PE lessons and sports opportunities
-
Encourage all children to take part in physical activity
-
Support children in reaching their best performance levels
-
Promote healthy, active lifestyles that continue outside school
We also regularly review how the funding is used to make sure it is effective and making a positive difference for our pupils.
